MUC and the University of Surrey Discuss Sino-Foreign Cooperation

On the afternoon of June 16, MUC Vice President Song Min and Tian Lin held a video conference with representatives of the University of Surrey as well as the Dean of the International College Marco Mongiello. They conducted discussions regarding the promotion of Sino-foreign cooperation in the regard of school operations between the two universities.


After mutually offering an overview of each other’s universities, Tian Lin also emphatically introduced the significant opportunities for China to promote the construction of Hainan and the construction of the Hainan International College of MUC. The two parties expressed their mutual willingness to carry out Sino-foreign cooperation in the regard of school operations and they agreed and determined specific work contacts to promote follow-up cooperation negotiations. In terms of the mode of cooperation, the two parties are initially considered launching Sino-foreign cooperative education projects. Moreover, the two sides also determined the approximate timeframe for the next meeting. They both expressed their hope that both sides can conduct high-levels of exchange during visits and throughout cooperation in the second half of this year.


The University of Surrey is a century-old British university and a well-known public university in the UK engaged in comprehensive research. It is located in Surrey, in the southeast of England. It was established in 1891 and is a world-renowned research center for artificial intelligence, mobile communications and satellite space technology. In the 2019 edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings report, the University of Surrey's majors rank among the top in the world. At the same time, the University of Surrey had been recognized as having the world's top college for hospitality and tourism management school (SHTM). It was also been ranked fourth in the world and first in the UK in the 2018 QS World University Hotel and Leisure Management Rankings report.

 

Delegates from the MUC School of Management, MUC School of Journalism and Communication, MUC School of Dance and Music, as well as the MUC Office of International Relations and the MUC Office of Development and Planning of Hainan Campus all attended the video conference.
