MUC VP Song Min Holds Video Conference with VP of National Cork University of Ireland

On the afternoon of April 21, MUC Vice President Song Min conducted a video conference meeting in the MUC Zhixing Hall with John O'halleren, Vice President of National Cork University of Ireland. The objective of the online meeting was to discuss the establishment of Sino-foreign cooperative educational initiatives between the two universities.



During the meeting, Song Min briefly mentioned that the Covid-19 pneumonia epidemic is spreading all over the world. Moreover, the fact that when China first started to experience the outbreak, the President of National Cork University of Ireland sent a letter of condolence to MUC. MUC was very grateful to receive this letter. Ironically now in this period, the National Cork University of Ireland is experiencing difficult times because of the Covid-19 outbreak. To combat the crisis and return a sense of support and solidarity, MUC urgently raised funds to procure 10,000 masks to donate the National Cork University of Ireland. MUC is now preparing to send the masks to Instructors and Students of National Cork University of Ireland using the Chinese Alumni Association of National Cork University of Ireland.


Other than talking about the epidemic during the meeting, Song Min also introduced the preparations, objectives, and potential advantages of the MUC Hainan Campus. She conveyed the fact that she hopes to explore more potential cooperation with their university and explore the establishment of greater Sino-foreign collaboration between the two universities taking the Hainan campus construction as a new opportunity. At the same time, it is hoped that cooperation between the two universities can help to fulfill the greater needs of international development. Moreover, alongside the Hainan campus construction, that initiatives, will, in effect, also help to highlight the advantages and unique characteristics of the two universities, and maximize the benefits for all sides.



John O'halleren, on behalf of Instructors and Students of National Cork University of Ireland, expressed his gratitude for the mask donation and support coming from MUC and expressed his willingness to hold Sino-foreign cooperation with MUC. Moreover, he also communicated with Song Min about other issues of common concern. The heads of relevant Colleges of National Cork University of Ireland also indicated they intend to actively discuss with MUC regarding specific issues such as follow-up cooperation and more.


Through this remote video conference, the two sides further clarified their willingness to cooperate and preliminarily determined the cooperation specifics in terms of disciplines, the work teams to be allocated as well as the related work schedule.
