School Overview & Development History
In July 2007, based on the MUC School of Mathematics and Computer Science and the School of Physics and Electronic Engineering, the MUC School of Information Engineering was established. After years of development, the school has six undergraduate majors in computer science and technology, automation, communication engineering, electronic information engineering, software engineering, and the internet of things engineering. It has two major first-level academic degree programs in computer science and technology (software and theory, system structure, computer application technology) and software engineering, and further also offers a master's degree in modern education technology.
The MUC School of Information Engineering consists of the Department of Computer Science and Technology, the Department of Automation, the Department of Electronic Information Engineering, the Department of Communication Engineering, the Department of Public Computer Teaching (which is responsible for public computer teaching throughout the school) and the Experimental Center. It has been granted a "985 Project" technology innovation platform title which is used in the development of ethnic areas, computer science and technology (school-level key cultivation discipline), the Beijing Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center - Electronic Engineering Experimental Center, the Department of Language and Information Management, for Ministry of Education related efforts, the Department of Education and Science and Technology of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, and for the National Language Resource Monitoring and Research Center for Minority Languages which was established jointly by MUC and the Department of Newspapers and Periodicals Publishing of the State Press.
The instructors of the MUC School of Information Engineering have presided over and participated in many national “973” fund projects, major projects of national science and technology support programs, national “863” fund projects, key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, critical scientific and technological projects of the Ministry of Education, and research projects of the National People’s Committee, the New Century Excellent Talents Program of the Ministry of Education and the Beijing Education Reform Project. In recent years, they have published dozens of academic monographs, published hundreds of scholarly papers in essential journals at home and abroad, and obtained dozens of invention patents and software copyrights.
