MUC School of Management

School Overview & Development History

   

The MUC School of Management was established in December 2002. The disciplines of political economy and political science were utilized as prototypes in its establishment. It is a comprehensive management school bridging the disciplines of both management and law. There are nine undergraduate majors in the school including Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Tourism Management, Administrative Management, Public Service Management, Political Science, and Administration; also three master's degree programs that are first-level disciplines such as Business Administration, Public Administration, and Political Science. Furthermore, twelve master's degree program are offered under their umbrellas including: Chinese and Foreign Political Systems, Scientific Socialism and the International Communist Movement, International Relations, National Political Science, Administrative Management, Public Administration in Ethnic Areas, Education Economy and Management, Social Security, Enterprise Management, Technology in Economics and Management, Accounting, and Tourism Management.

   

    

Moreover, the MUC School of Management has gained the right of degree-conferring in both the regards of Masters of Public Administration (MPA) and Masters of Business Administration (MBA). Moreover, there are three professional doctoral degrees: Ethnic Political Science, Ethnic Regional Administration and Industrial Social Management. The MUC School of Management is focused on two goals of efficiency and fairness in iterative discipline development and personnel training.

    

Hardware Conditions & Facilities

    

The school has outstanding teaching hardware facilities with a large-scale, nearly 50,000-volume data room as well as two comprehensive laboratories for business administration and public management. The school has established a management case study center and 12 teaching practice bases. These facilities can meet the needs of both experimental as well as practical teaching.

    

     

Scientific Research Projects

   

In the past three years, the MUC School of Management has undertaken a number of National Decision Making Consulting projects, Social Science Fund key projects, Major Social Science Fund bidding projects, National Social Science Fund planning projects, Major Projects of the Ministry of Education, Major Projects of the Civil Affairs Commission, Planning Projects in Beijing and other commissions. Furthermore, the school has published more than 100 academic monographs and published more than 450 papers, including more than 60 papers by SSCI, and more than 20 important awards at both the provincial and ministerial level. Moreover, the school has submitted nearly 100 important research reports, including research on border areas such as the Tibet Autonomous Region and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. The report received the instructions of important national leaders and the attention of relevant departments.

School Focus, Beliefs & Development Objectives

“Teaching materials development, scientific research,

infrastructure development, and iterative key discipline establishment.”

   

In recent years, the MUC School of Management has relied on the "985" and "211" construction projects, adhered to iterative discipline development as the core objective, and intensified management system innovation, teacher team construction, conditional platform construction, and international exchange. Moreover, it has continued to assume better and better characteristics and standards seen in other top-level domestic higher education institutions.

   

    

Our Talent

   

The MUC School of Management has a team of excellent teachers who are diligent and well-educated. There are 69 faculty members, including 19 professors, 23 associate professors, two experts who were entitled to special allowances from the State Council of the PRC and one expert who was designated “Outstanding Contribution Expert” by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, and moreover one member of the National MPA Teaching Steering Committee. More than 90% of the teachers have doctoral degrees, 60% of teachers have experience either in study abroad or in academic exchanges abroad. So many instructors at the school have won titles such as “Outstanding Teaching Team of Beijing,” “Teaching Master” in Beijing, and “Top Ten Teachers” in MUC Undergraduate Teaching. At present, the development pattern of “teaching masters – major research projects – excellent teaching teams – national specialties” has been formed, and it is transforming into a conformable model.

Academic Exchanges as well as Cooperation at Home & Abroad

   

The MUC School of Management has continuously strengthened cooperation and exchanges with top universities at home and abroad. Therein, it has invited well-known professors from the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, Hungary, and other famous universities and colleges to visit the MUC campus for academic lectures and exchanges, and moreover to provide academic coursework and training for teachers and students. In this way, it has established a dynamic platform for international exchange. It is also promoted exchange activities encompassing teachers from within China. For example, in the past three years, more than 100 high-level academic lectures have been arranged by well-known scholars from key universities in China, which continues to expand the academic horizons of teachers and students alike.

The MUC School of Management conscientiously implements a policy that prioritizes quality and development with connotation. The school strives to organically integrate knowledge transfer, ability cultivation, quality improvement while also working with great effort to strengthen basic theories and basic skills in line with the principle of a "wide caliber and a thick foundation", being focused on cultivating innovative abilities amongst its students. Since 2006, undergraduate education has been developed in accordance with first-level disciplines such as "Community Management" and "Public Management". After the students enter the school, they will study the basic courses of management in a unified manner. More work is being done to personalize the learning process for students and they will gradually be better trained according to their interests and abilities.
