Lasar Ruiciwei, Adjunct Professor of Ithaca College Visits MUC School of Economics

Professor Rasoul Rezvanian, who is an internationally renowned economist, was invited by the Economics College to give a lecture entitled “The Effect of the Belt and Road Initiative on Poverty Alleviation” to teachers and students at the College of Economics in the evening of October 15that 604 Wenhua Building East.The lecture was hosted by Professor Shu Yanfei who is from the College of Economics.

Professor Rasoul Rezvanian is the Associate Dean at Ithaca College in the United States, he holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Southern Illinois University, and is a Fulbright visiting scholar in Beijing. He has published dozens of papers and held influential international conferences. Furthermore, he has held more than 50 academic lectures. His main research areas are bank efficiency, financial risk management and financial poverty alleviation. The theme of the lecture was “The Effect of the Belt and Road Initiative on Poverty Alleviation”, mainly involving discussions regarding the financial development of the Belt and Road Initiative, the effect of the Belt and Road Initiative on poverty alleviation in China and the world, as well as how China and other Belt and Road countries can further improve financial poverty alleviation. The lecture explained the importance and effect of the Belt and Road Initiative within poverty alleviation.

After this lecture, the students had a new understanding of the significance and effect of the Belt and Road Initiative on financial poverty alleviation and thus expanded their horizons. Also, the College of Economics held a formal symposium for Professor Rasoul Rezvanian, and conducted in-depth consultations on extensive cooperation between the Ithaca College of Business and the School of Economics at MUC. The exchanges between the two sides will get closer and closer in the future.
