KTV (Karaoke)

Karaoke first evolved in Japan in the 1970s before immediately taking Asia by storm. This form of entertainment came to the Chinese mainland in the 1990s and got the new name of KTV, where the participants can sing, watch music videos, dance, or just eat (food and drinks are normally included in the room fee but snacks are charged separately) and talk to each other in private rooms. You certainly don’t have to worry about embarrassing yourself in front of strangers if you can’t sing well. The KTV room price, though not low, especially on weekends, doesn’t seem to concern people too much and KTV has already overtaken many other leisure activities and become one of the most popular entertainments among Chinese people.
